You just bought your new wood barrel to produce your own excellent wine. After the delivery you must leave the outer gelatin by using the barrel. 4-5 days before filling the barrel with wine you must follow the next steps:
You just bought your new wood barrel to produce your own excellent wine. We recommend examining and nosing the inside of each barrel upon delivery.
After the delivery you must leave the outer gelatin by using the barrel. Remember that a new barrel must be stored in a cool, humid environment, perhaps in your winery, in order to maintain its integrity. 4-5 days before filling the barrel with wine you must follow the next steps:
1st step
Unwind the plastic film on the barrel.
2nd step
Place the barrel in horizontal place and remove stopper and cork.
3rd step
Place the cannula and rotate it in the vertical (closed) position.
4th step
Strike it lightly.
5th step
After we wash out the barrel externally and internally, we fill it with potable water until above.
6th step
We wet the barrel from side to side, completely wetting the barrel’s interior. We will realise that exist escapes in various points.
7th step
For this reason ampty and refill the barrel regularly, until stops any escape (usually 2 - 5 days). After we stop the escapes, it is good to leave it still one day, in odrer to be absolutely sure.
8th step
After barrel is ready, empty the water and leave it with the hole watching down to dry.
9th step
We fill the barrel with wine, with no other action.
Finally, stamp the hole with the stopper.
