Welcome to the TESIAS online store. For 35 years, the company TESIAS has been manufacturing, in Metsovo, handmade wooden barrels of high quality from French oak tree trunks. In cooperation with many Greek wineries, we contribute significantly to maintaining the quality of the wine. We address people with passion and love for the production of their own quality wine.
Those who deal with wine know very well what a living and sensitive product it is. The wooden barrel, unlike stainless steel or plastic, allows the air - due to the pores of the wood - to slowly oxygenate the wine in the necessary dose to upgrade it, both in flavor components (tannins) and in aromatics (aldehydes). . The various heat treatments that take place during the construction of the barrel also contribute to this. The barrel must be new, 3-4 years old. After 5 years it is a simple storage container, because the components of the wood deteriorate.
So we conclude that we should treat the wooden barrel as the only means to produce high quality wines.

The barrels are delivered packaged together with the cap, the cannula (tap), a lozenge of sulfur as well as a leaflet with the instructions for use and maintenance.
